DUBLIN – Junior Trequan Bellamy and senior Seth Buffkin combined to rush for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead South Columbus to a 42-0 Three Rivers Conference football victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Buffkin led the Stallions running for 153 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Bellamy scored a trio of touchdowns and gained 146 yards on 18 attempts. The Stallions outgained the Knights 441-93 on the ground and 468-125 in total yards.

Bellamy darted 13 yards for the touchdown that capped a 65-yard drive and put the Stallions up 6-0 with 4:47 left in the first quarter.

South Columbus ground out an 85-yard drive that ended when Buffkin snagged an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Robby Spencer. Buffin plowed into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 14-0 lead 8:41 before halftime.

Knight senior Jimmy Williams returned the South kick-off 38 yards to the Stallion 27 yardline. A pair of Stallion penalties and a 6-yard run on the jet sweep by Kerron Washington moved the Knights to the one yardline.

Washington apperared to have scored on a fourth down play from the one, but a holding penalty nullified the touchdown, and a pass interception ended the threat.

South Columbus marched 99 yards in just ten plays. Buffkin charged into the end zone from 4 yards out for the touchdown, and Adolfo Cardenas kicked the extra point for a 21-0 lead with 2:33 left in the half.

Washington grabbed a 27-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Tyre Boykin that put the Knights at the South Columbus 23 yardline, but the Knights could get no closer as the half ended.

Bellamy capped scoring drives of 65 yards and 42 yards in the third quarter with touchdown runs of 18 and 2 yards as the margin grew to 35-0 with a pair of Cardenas kicks tacked on.

A 14-yard run by senior Dayvon Swindell helped the Knights reach the South Columbus 20 yardline in the fourth quarter but the threat ended on downs at the 25.

South Columbus responded with a 75-yard scoring drive. Daquan Keel darted 13 yards for the touchdown and a 42-0 lead after Cardenas’ kick.

Drake sprinted 16 yards, and Michael Hepburn scooted 12 yards as the Knights moved to the Stallion 28 before time expired.

Swindell led the Knight offense with 33 yards rushing, and Drake followed with 26 yards rushing. Boykin completed 3 of 13 passes for 32 yards. Washington had one 27-yard reception.

Senior Jonathan Robinson led the Knight defense with 9 unassisted tackles. Jvahn Thomas also finished with 9 tackles – 7 unassisted. Hepburn and Swindell followed with 7 tackles each and 6 unassisted tackles each. Drake, freshman Kendall Johnson and Jason Moore contributed 5 tackles.

West Bladen, now 2-6 in league play and 4-6 overall, will close out the season at rival East Bladen Friday night.
