Dixie Youth BaseballTABOR CITY – A 6-run fourth inning propelled Elizabethtown to a 12-10 victory over Whiteville Wednesday night in the championship game of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament.

Whiteville took an early 2-0 lead, but Elizabethtown answered with 3 runs in the home first. Prince McKoy led off with a single and scored on Noah German’s single. Aiden Trinidad knocked in German with a single, and Colt Lewis and Gaston Russ followed with singles that scored Trinidad.

Whiteville scored 2 runs in both the second and third innings to take a 6-3 lead. McKoy began the Elizabethtown third with a single, advanced on a pair of outs then scored when Jaylen Smith cracked a single. Trinidad smacked a single, and Lewis walloped a triple that scored Smith and Trinidad and tied the game 6-6.

Hutch Glenn slammed a double to ignite the pivotal Elizabethtown rally in the fourth inning. Rex Register belted a single to leftfield that scored Glenn. Chandler Wall and McKoy followed with singles that scored Register.

Lathan Cashwell blasted a triple that scored Wall and McKoy. German and Smith slapped singles, and Trinidad rapped a single that scored German and Smith and boosted the Elizabethtown lead to 12-6.

Whiteville fought back with 2 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings but came up two runs short.

Trinidad batted 3-3 with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Gaston Russ finished 3-3 at the plate with a triple and an rbi. McKoy batted 3-3 with 3 runs scored and an rbi.

Cashwell batted 2-3 with a triple and 2 rbi’s. German finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Smith batted 2-3 with 2 runs scored and an rbi. Lewis was also 2-3 at the plate with a triple and 2 rbi’s.

Register batted 2-3 with a triple, an rbi and a run scored. Gauge King batted 2-3 and Glenn smashed a double and scored a run. Wall and Taylor King added one hit each, and Wall scored a run.
