ELIZABETHTOWN – The Navy scored 3 runs in the eighth inning to defeat Columbia 10-7 Wednesday night Dixie Boys Baseball action at County Park.

The two teams were deadlocked 7-7 after 7 innings and an international tie-breaker rule that places a runner at second base to start the inning was used in the eighth inning.

In the top of the eighth, Kaiden Stanley was the Navy runner placed at second base and Aaron Wren walked. Both runners advanced on stolen bases and both scored when Wadeyn Norris lined a single to leftfield. Norris stole second and eventually scored on a balk for a 10-7 Navy lead.

Alex Strange pitched two scoreless innings of one-hit relief and struck out four to pick up the win for Navy. His brother, Devon Strange, started on the mound and worked 3 innings, striking out three and allowing only one run.

Kaiden Stanley pitched 0.2 innings and was relieved by Bryley Williams who worked 2.1 innings on the mound and struck out four.

Brycen Blackmon walked and circled the bases on a wild pitch, a stolen base and a throwing error with a first inning Navy run.

Chase Starkloff walked and raced home when Tyler Hill drilled a double to right-centerfield in the bottom of the first to pull Columbia even 1-1.

Columbia capitalized on a pair of Navy errors to score 5 runs and take a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mahki Cromartie walked and scored when Ayden Piland reached base on an error. Alex Brisson walked, and Tyler Johnson reached base on another error.

Ryan Johnson poked a single inside the rightfield line that scored Piland and Brisson. Walker Ward laced a single to left-centerfield that scored Tyler Johnson and Ryan Johnson.

Devon Strange ripped a single to right-centerfield and came around to scored a Navy run in the fifth inning.

In the Navy sixth inning, Alex Strange cracked a one-out single and Elijah Crabtree walked. Josh Russ knocked in both runners with a double to centerfield.

Riley Stanley punched a single to leftfield that scored Russ, and catcher Antonio Candelaria launched a 2-run home run that scored Riley Stanley and vaulted the Navy in front 7-6.

Starkloff drilled triple into the leftfield corner to start the Columbia sixth inning and darted home on a wild pitch to knot the score 7-7.

Candelaria batted 2-3 with a 2-run homer for the Navy. Russ slammed the 2-run double and scored a run. Blackmon, Devon Strange, Pumpkin Smith, Norris, Alex Strange, Davion Graham and Riley Stanley connected for on hit each.

Blackmon, Devon Strange, Kaiden Stanley, Wren, Norris, Alex Strange, Crabtree and Riley Strange scored runs for Navy. Norris drove in 2 runs, and Riley Stanley drove in one.

Hill finished 2-3 at the plate with a run-scoring double to lead the Columbia hitters. Starkloff tripled and scored twice. Tyler Johnson doubled and scored a run.

Ward and Ryan Johnson both smacked 2-run singles. Tucker Carroll had the other Columbia hit. Cromartie, Piland, Brisson, and Ryan Johnson scored runs.
Cromartie started for Columbia and pitched 4.1 innings, striking out seven. Brisson relieved in the fifth, and Piland pitched the final 2 innings and struck out four.
