ELIZABETHTOWN – The Comets rode a 7-run third-inning rally to a 9-4 victory over the Stars Thursday night in the final game of Bladen Recreation’s 13-16 Fast-Pitch Softball League season.

Briley Stanley was hit by a pitch to start the game, stole second base and circled the bases on wild pitches. Alyssa Suggs was hit by a pitch and scored on a throwing error to put the Comets ahead 2-0.

The Stars pulled even with two runs in the second inning. Hannah Pait beat out an infield hit, advanced on a throwing error and scored on Hailey Guyton’s fielder’s choice. An error on the play put Guyton on base, and Grace West knocked her in with a single to centerfield.

Brooke Priest walked to begin the Comet third inning, stole two bases and darted home on a wild pitch. Stanley ripped a single past shortstop, stole two bases and scooted home on a wild pitch. Katelyn Willoughby was hit by a pitch and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches.

Suggs walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch. Amelia Brisson walked and scored on a wild pitch, and Kylee Ward beat out an infield hit. Katlynn Tatum hammered a home run to the right-centerfield fence that scored Ward and stretched the Comet lead to 9-2.

Lauren Pait walloped a double to the left-centerfield fence in the Stars third inning. Hannah Pait reached base on a passed third strike. Walks to Guyton, Kaylee Page and Shaunessy McMillian forced home Lauren Pait and Hannah Pait and trimmed the final margin to 9-4.

Tatum slugged the 2-run homer to lead the Comet hitters. Ward and Stanley connected for one hit each. Stanley and Suggs scored 2 runs each, and Willoughby, Brisson, Ward and Priest scored one run each.

Lauren Pait slammed a double and scored a run, and Hannah Pait and Grace West belted one hit each. Hannah Pait scored 2 runs and Guyton scored one. Guyton, Page and Shaunessy drove in one run each.
