NEW BERN – Bladen County scored nine runs in the second inning and went on to post a 14-11 victory over Fuquay-Varina Saturday in the State-Wide Activities Committee Sectional Softball Tournament.
Mary Frances Sutton scored the only Bladen run in the first inning. Emma Dunn, Gabriella Bray, Leea Wilkins, Mollie Tolar, Kali Allen, Sutton, Tatum Allen, Natalee Sykes and Kallie Bass all scored runs for Bladen County in the second inning.
Bladen tacked on four more runs in the third as Kali Allen, Tatum Allen, Sykes and Bass all scored runs.
Dunn reached base three times and scored a run for the Bladen team. Sutton, Tatum Allen, Sykes, Bass and Kali Allen reached base twice and scored twice in the game.
Bray reached base twice and scored a run. Tolar and Wilkins scored one run each. Marlene Crabtree and Jenna Brice also reached base for Bladen County in the game.
