Mr. Mac Campbell

On Friday, January 4th, a request was received for a Resolution of Support from the Town to the NC Board of Transportation to name NC Highway 87 Bypass in honor of Mr. Mac Campbell, Jr.  Mr. Danny DeVane, retired Chief Secretary of NCDOT, made the request in person.  DeVane stated that Campbell is “most deserving of this recognition for all he has done for Elizabethtown, Bladen County and the State of North Carolina.”  Council approved the resolution of support.
Council approved the bid award for new construction of the Elizabethtown Fire and Rescue Facility to DeVane Builders for $2,336,900.  The project is proposed to be completed within 210 days.  Council also amended the Architectural Services Agreement for JT Cox and Associates for the project for an additional $8,000 due to changes in the project.
In other administrative matters, Council approved Change orders for Airport Terminal and Taxiway projects; approved the 2019-20 Budget Calendar; scheduled the Town Budget Retreat for February 26th; reappointed Amy Shaw, Mike Shaw, James Freeman, Becky Spearman and Sandra Cain to the Pork and Beats Festival Committee; and approved the monthly Financial report as presented.
The Town Offices will be closed on Monday, January 21st  in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Day.  The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m.
