FAIRMONT – A 4-run second inning carried Fairmont to a 6-3 victory over West Bladen Wednesday in the Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball opener for both teams.

Devon Strange drew a walk to begin the Knight first inning. Alex Strange belted a single to rightfield, and an error on Brycen Blackmon’s grounder plated Devon Strange for a 1-0 lead.

The Tornadoes scored 4 runs in the second inning and single runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 6-1 lead.

Devon Strange ripped a single to centerfield in the fifth inning, and Alex Strange was hit by a pitch. Alex Brisson reached base on a fielder’s choice that retired Devon Strange. Todd Richardson and Blackmon reached base on errors as Alex Strange and and Brisson scored to trim the margin to 6-3.

Devon Strange and Alex Strange finished with one hit each. Devon Strange started on the mound for the Knights and was relieved by Alex Strange in the third inning.

The Knights will travel to Red Springs Friday.
