WHITE LAKE – West Bladen juniors Chad Garner and Wyatt Bordeaux both shot their best rounds of the season Monday in the NCHSAA Class 2A MidEast Regional at Vineyard Golf, but both just missed qualifying for the state tournament.

Bordeaux fired an 81, and Garner was a shot behind with an 82. An 80 would have qualified for a playoff in Monday’s regional for the final two state tournament berths.

Monday’s top three teams advanced to the state. They were Midway (302), Wheatmore (344) and Providence Grove (350). Clinton tied Providence Grove with a 350, but lost the state berth on a fifth-player score.

Trinity carded a 352 followed by West Bladen in sixth place with a 355. The Knights finished ahead of Three Rivers Conference nemesis South Columbus (357).

Other individual Knight scores included: John Brust (92), Devin Smith (100) and Jared Storms (116).

East Bladen finished 11th with a 471 score. Individual Eagle scores were: Nick Norris (102), Jayson Baxter (113), Alex Avellaende (116) and Chance Hester (140).

Midway junior Logan Patrick won medalist honors for the regional with a 68, and teammate Andrew Eldridge posted a 71. South Columbus’ Caleb Click (78) was the only Three Rivers Conference golfer to qualifiy for next week’s state tournament.
