Spread the love

Whatever needs to be done in the year 2019 … should be completed today.

A very good turnout for the ribbon cutting at the new headquarters of BladenOnline and Cape Fear Heating and Cooling yesterday afternoon … located at 1110 South Poplar Street (US 701 South).

We are just hours away from a couple of fun events … in Bladenboro, an old timey New Year’s Day feast from 11 AM to 1 PM. … blackeyed peas, collards, chicken & rice, cornbread and all that goes with it for just $7 per plate. … Proceeds will be used to keep the Historical Building in good condition, hopefully for years to come.

And for brave souls seeking excitement, how about the Polar Plunge at Camp Clearwater at White Lake. The 8th annual plunge is set for 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday). And following the plunge, Water Rescue volunteers will be serving a delicious traditional New Year’s Day meal … collards, pork and the trimmings.

For the record … I will not be participating in the Polar Plunge … in fact, that you can depend on it … but some of the same ones who have made the ‘plunge’ before are expected to return … and you are welcomed to join in. Weather forecast for Wednesday … high temp near 56 and west wind 6 to 7 mph.

In a world that seems to ‘spin out of control’ too often, it’s good to join with friends and have a little fun, occasionally.

I remember my top concern on New Year’s Day … time to return to school … following a nice, long holiday season.

If you have not paid your property taxes, a penalty will be added in about a week.

“My New Year’s resolution is to take all the Christmas lights down by Easter.” Melanie White

Help yourself. … I’ve got a whole drawer full of resolutions I’m not using.

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions.
