LAKE WACCAMAW- Sophomore Rylee Chadwick poured in 16 points Friday to lead West Bladen to a 39-31 Three Rivers Conference girls’ basketball victory over East Columbus.

 

Destiny Mitchell pushed East Columbus ahead early with a 3-point bomb and another basket. Freshman Mallory Bryan answered with a basket and 2 free throws for West Bladen. Freshman Megan Pait cashed in 2 free throws, and Chadwick and sophomore Makayla Wright dropped in baskets to keep the Lady Knights within 11-10.

Sophomore Lainey Autry sparked an 11-2 Lady Knight run by nailing a 3-point shot and 2 other baskets in the 2nd quarter. Chadwick tossed in a pair of baskets to give the visitors a 21-13 halftime lead.

 

Chadwick fired in a trio of baskets in the 3rd period, Bryan pumped in 2 baskets, and Autry scored again as the West lead grew to 33-22.

 

Chadwick threw in a pair of baskets in the final quarter, and junior Olivia McCarty worked the paint for a basket to keep the Lady Knights on top.

 

Autry finished with 9 points for the winners, and Bryan totaled 8 points.  Lazaydia Flowers led the Lady Gators with 15 points, and Mitchell tallied 8 points.

 

Coach Brian McCleney’s Lady Knights improved to 2-1 in conference play and 4-1 overall. West Bladen will travel to East Bladen Wednesday at 4:30.
