With the Easter weekend approaching, both of Bladen County’s high schools moved their Friday night football games to Thursday. West Bladen will host St. Pauls in their Homecoming game, and East Bladen will travel to West Columbus. Game time for both games is 7 p.m.

 

St. Pauls (2-0) at West Bladen (0-4)

 

West Bladen’s Knights celebrate Homecoming against a St. Pauls team that was late starting the season due to coronavirus protocols but has since posted wins over Three Rivers Conference contenders East Bladen and Whiteville.

 

Sophomore KeMarion Baldwin ran for 125 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Bulldogs 36-22 victory over East Bladen, and senior Demonte Williams rushed for 98 yards and another touchdown.

 

In their 36-27 win over Whiteville, the Bulldogs relied on the passing of junior quarterback Mikail Breeden who threw for 259 yards and 4 touchdowns. Waltay Jackson caught 5 passes for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Will Ford snagged 4 passes for 121 yards.

 

Knight quarterback Devon Strange has thrown for 375 yards and 6 touchdowns and has rushed for 93 yards. Senior ShyRon Adams has snared 6 passes for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior Demarius Robinson has caught 4 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.

 

Sophomore Gary Parker leads the ground game having rushed for 224 yards and 5 touchdowns. Robinson has rushed for 142 yards, and Hunter Elks has gained 134 yards rushing. Javonta Matthews leads the defense with 2 pass interceptions and returned one of them 67 yards for a touchdown.

 

East Bladen (2-2) at West Columbus (1-2)

 

East Bladen travels to West Columbus looking to rebound from a couple of tough games against Red Springs and St. Pauls.

 

Senior Rasean McKoy leads the Eagle ground attack having rushed for 529 yards and 6 touchdowns. McKoy also has a kickoff return touchdown and a pass reception touchdown.

 

Junior Javius Brooks bolted 44 yards for a touchdown against Red Springs and has totaled 200 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Freshman Maison Brooks has rushed for 112 yards and 2 touchdown.

 

Quarterback Zach Meares has thrown for 143 yards with touchdown passes of 35 yards to junior Nazire Smith and 28 yards to McKoy. Senior Josh Hayes leads the defense averaging 12 tackles per game.

 

Junior De’Norie Mack leads the Viking runners with 143 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Senior Nathan Hunt has thrown for 135 yards. Senior end Brandis Kelly has caught 8 passes for 136 yards.

 

Junior Amajae Lowery ran for 3 touchdowns and returned a pass interception 92 yards for another touchdown in the Vikings 49-36 win over West Bladen.
