It’s time to play ball at the Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball Field! The 2021 North Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball AA State Tournament will begin with an opening ceremony at 6:30 on Friday, July 2nd, then baseball games on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., and will end with a Sunday morning church service at Clarkton Presbyterian Church.

On Clarkton DYB’s social media, they describe their organization as “volunteers that work together to teach the children in our community the fundamentals of baseball.”

Teams from our area and surrounding counties include and are not limited to Bladen, Columbus, Robeson, Brunswick, and Stanly Counties. Over two hundred 7-8-year-olds are participating in the tournament.

Many will rely on local hotels, motels, cabins, and more to stay during their weekend of baseball in Bladen County, with hundreds attending. Frankie Burney, Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball President, predicts that at least one-third of the crowd will take advantage of local lodging. He stated that local lodging has been recommended to the visitors. This event will bring in many out-of-towners and result in additional revenue for our businesses, and they can enjoy the lodging, dining, and shopping facilities that Bladen County offers.

Burney invites everyone to participate in this major event. He says, “We’d love for everyone to come out and support and enjoy some baseball!”
