CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery outscored Williams Township 4-2 in the penalty kick shootout Monday after the 2 teams battled to a scoreless tie in regulation play.

The visitors launched their opening kick in the shootout over the goal, and Clarkton’s Danielle Cotton nailed her penalty kick for an early 1-0 CSD lead.

Williams tied the shootout 1-1, but Cabria Baldwin drilled in her penalty kick for a 2-1 Lady Blue Devil lead. The Lady Aggies pulled even at 2-2, but Ellie Kinlaw knocked in her penalty kick to put Clarkton ahead to stay.

“Cotton made an excellent save, and Layla Lent was last up and hit the bottom left corner of the goal for the win!” said Clarkton Coach Laura Hall.

Lent, Baldwin and Kinlaw all had shots on goal in the first half for Clarkton. “Second half we started out pretty aggressive, and 6th grader Rahniya McLean had a breakaway she couldn’t connect on,” said Coach Hall. “Danielle Cotton made multiple saves putting us in a shootout.”

The Lady Blue Devils will travel to Tar Heel Thursday for a non-conference game.
