Suspect, Curtis Sanders Cromartie, Arrested in Shooting of Local Man

According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, Franklin Quentil Pharr, 37 of Elizabethtown, was with some friends at a residence off of Mercer-Mill Road when he was shot in the torso by an unknown black male. Pharr went to Bladen County Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Witnesses described two black males in a gray car that pulled out a silver revolver and fired approximately 3 to 4 times striking Pharr. The vehicle sped off toward Elizabethtown. During the course of the investigation, information was obtained that led investigators to obtain warrants for Curtis Sanders Cromartie, 34 of Elizabethtown, for the shooting. Warrants were obtained for Attempted First Degree Murder, Assault With A Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of A Firearm By A Felon.

On Saturday, January 1, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cromartie during a traffic stop. Cromartie waived extradition and was returned to Bladen County on Thursday, January 6, and taken before the magistrate where he was placed under a $290,000 secure bond and placed in the Bladen County Detention Center. At Cromartie’s first appearance in Bladen County District Court on January 7, Cromartie’s bond was raised to $1,000,000 secured.
