On Wednesday, January 5th, members of the Carvers Creek Fire Department received a check from Blue Cross Blue Shield for being one of the twelve small fire departments in comparison to the other 1,200 fire departments in North Carolina, according to Bladen County Fire Marshal Kenneth Clark.

The $5,000 check was presented to the Carvers Creek Fire Department by North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey, who is a native of Guilford County.

NCOSFM shared, “Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey proudly distributed grant checks totaling $15,000 to Pine Terrace Fire Department in Robeson County, Carvers Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Bladen County and St. James Volunteer FD in Columbus County. The grants are the result of a $500,000 contribution made by Blue Cross NC to help firefighters in North Carolina.  Thank you all for everything you do to keep your communities safe! Keep up the great work!”
