WHITEVILLE – Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs pounded out 13 hits and clinched the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s ‘A’ League softball championship Monday with a 14-1 victory over 2nd place Williams Township.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-0 in league play and 7-0 overall and hold a 2-game lead over Williams with 2 games remaining. Bladenboro has defeated Williams in both of their head-to-head meetings.

Allison Hickman pitched a 2-hitter for Bladenboro and struck out 5 batters, while walking three. The Lady Bulldogs exploded for 6 runs in the 2nd inning then blew the game open with 6 more in the 4th inning.

Catcher Leea Wilkins blasted a 2-run triple in the 2nd inning and finished 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 triples, 2 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. Teammate Makenna Thurman also batted 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Addison Wilcox cracked a 2-run single during the 6-run, Bladenboro 5th inning rally, and finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Natalee Sykes knocked in runs in both the 2nd and 5th innings and batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.

Kali Allen slammed a run-scoring double in the 5th inning and scored twice. Karlee Gause and Abbie Hickman both belted singles and scored 1 run each. Jaylen Clark walked and scored a run.

Bladenboro will host Nakina Wednesday in the Lady Bulldogs final home game.
