December is among us, and so are the Christmas carols, decorated trees, festive lights, and holiday celebrations and events. Lucky for us, Bladen County goes all out for the Christmas season. In addition to beautifully decorated homes, businesses, and downtown areas, there are also lots of Christmas events to enjoy here in the Mother County.

We would like to spotlight some upcoming events that you and your family can enjoy this month:

  • Lu Mil Vineyard Festival of Lights:

Drive your own vehicle through hundreds of thousands of lights & decorations that are synchronized to music that you listen  to on your car’s FM radio.   • Rudolph Paint Class for Kids:

With a goal to raise funds, this event for kids will take place at Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown on December 6th. More info: event

  • Sled Paint Class:

Another paint class fundraiser located at the library! Sponsored by Friends of the Bladen County Public Library. For more information, click here or call 910-862-6990.

  • Home for the Holidays:

An old-school variety show raising funds to improve BCC’s auditorium, happening on Friday, December 9th, at Bladen Community College in the auditorium. To purchase tickets for the event, click here.

  • Santa Paws and Claws:

A Christmas event for your furry friends at Cape Fear Farmers Market on Saturday, December 10th. Complimentary nail trimming offered by The Barking Lot, Pet Costume Contest, and more!

  • Whoville Village:

This free-entry event is happening every Saturday night until December 17th in Tar Heel. Giveaways, lights, movie-watching, treats, photo ops, and more! For more information, read this previous BladenOnline article: A Celebration to Remember.

  • It’s a Foodie Christmas:

Happening on December 17 at Cape Fear Farmers Market! Cooking Demonstration, How to make a local gift basket, Locally made Holiday drinks, Local food related vendors, Cake & Pie Contest. More information: christmas-at-the-farmers-market.

 

Social media is also a great way to stay updated on the ongoings in our community. Be sure to spread the word about local events with your family and friends, so we can all have the opportunity to enjoy this Bladen County Christmas! By attending local events, you are supporting local businesses and organizations and this helps our community to grow and thrive. Many local stores, merchants, and other businesses are hosting open houses, offering Christmas deals, gift certificates, and more this holiday season. Remember to shop local and enjoy all that Bladen County has to offer!
