BLADENBORO – Allison Hickman pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 12 batters Thursday as Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs closed out their season with a 13-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

Coach Otis Evans’ Bladenboro squad finished in 2nd place with a 6-2 record in the Waccamaw’s ‘A’ Conference but were denied a co-championship when Williams Township defeated Nakina Thursday to claim the title with a 7-1 record. Bladenboro was 7-2 overall.

Hickman walked and scored the 1st Lady Bulldog run on Karlee Gause’s sacrifice fly to left field in the 1st inning. Zoie Durden cracked a single in the Clarkton 3rd inning and circled the bases on an error to tie the score 1-1.

Hickman slammed a double in the Bladenboro half of the 3rd and raced home when Gause belted a single. Hadley Dove reached base on an error that scored Gause put the Lady Bulldogs up 3-1.

Bladenboro stretched the lead to 9-1 with a 6-run 4th inning. Cheyenne Reinhart was hit by a pitch, and Lily Hester smacked a single. Hickman laced a single that scored Reinhart, and Maycee Kinlaw smashed a single.

Gause walloped a triple that scored Hester, Hickman and Kinlaw. Dove walked before Giovanna Spaulding drove in Gause with a single. Diyari McKoy was hit by a pitch, and Hailii Andrews ripped a single that scored Dove.

Aliah Jacobs, Kynzlee Wood, Durden and Nadya Colon drew walks in the Clarkton 5th inning, and Jacobs and Wood scored to trim the lead to 9-3.

Hickman reached base on an error and Gause walked to start the Lady Bulldog 5th inning. Dove’s fielder’s choice scored Hickman. Kristen Singletary knocked in Gause and Dove with a single, and Andrews swatted a single that scored Singletary and ended the game on the mercy rule.

Gause racked up 5 RBIs with a 2-for-2 performance that included a triple and 3 runs scored. Andrews batted a perfect 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs for Bladenboro. Hickman finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI and 4 runs scored.

Spaulding batted 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Singletary delivered the 2-run single and scored a run. Kinlaw and Hester both singled and both scored runs. Dove walked, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.

Durden singled and scored a run for Clarkton. Wood and Jacobs both walked and both scored runs.
