ELIZABETHTOWN – Stryker Pait and Ryne Priest combined on a 7-hitter and their teammates pounded out 11 hits as the Yard Goats defeated the Braves 12-3 Monday night in Dixie Boys Baseball action.
Pait started and allowed a run on 2 hits and 2 walks in his 1-plus innings on the mound. Priest pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 4.
Drake Gause reached on a passed 3rd strike, and Gunner Lewis was hit by a pitch to start the Yard Goat 1st inning. Jadarius McArthur knocked in Gause and Lewis with a single to left field. Eli Woodell smacked a single to center that scored McArthur for a 3-0 lead.
Luke Bryant raked a single to left to start the Braves 1st inning. Brooks Carroll walked, and Gavin Brisson’s fielder’s choice plated Bryant and trimmed the margin to 3-1.
Jayden Bethea smashed a 1-out double to left in the Yard Goat 2nd. Maverick Merritt smoked a single to right-center field, and Hunter Wood reached on an error. Bethea and Merritt scored to pad the lead to 5-1.
Lewis walked and raced home when Brady Marlowe laced a single to left-center field that stretched the lead to 6-1 in the 3rd inning.
Devan Stanley laced a single to center field to start the Braves’ 3rd inning. Bryant launched a drive to right field that was misplayed, and Carroll belted a single to center field. Stanley and Bryant scored to slice the lead to 6-3.
Priest and Bethea started the Yard Goats 6-run 4th inning with singles. Merritt and Ritchie Gonzalez drew walks, and Wood swatted a single to right-center field. Gause, Joey Dowless and Ryker Strickland delivered back-to-back-to-back singles. Priest, Bethea, Merritt, Wood, Gonzalez and Gause all scored runs in the inning.
Bethea batted 2-for-2 with a double and 2 runs scored to lead the Yard Goat hitters. Gause, Dowless, Strickland, McArthur, Marlowe, Woodell, Priest, Merritt and Wood all connected for 1 hit each. Gause, Lewis and Merritt scored 2 runs each, and McArthur, Priest, Wood and Gonzalez scored 1 run each.
Bryant, Carroll, Dylan Brisson, Dalton Ammons, Ashton Bryan, Delton Murdock and Stanley belted 1 hit each for the Braves. Bryant scored 2 runs, and Stanley scored a run.
Andrew Wren, Cole Brisson and Carroll all saw time on the mound for the Braves.
