ELIZABETHTOWN – C.J. McCracken pitched a 3-inning, no-hitter Friday night to lead the Tar Heels to a 10-0 Dixie Boys Baseball victory over the Yard Goats.
Jamari Adams slammed a lead-off double to right-center field and scored a 1st inning run for the Tar Heels.
Omar Powell led off the Tar Heel 2nd with a single, and Braiden Dixon yanked a single to left-center field. Two outs later Dawson Edwards reached base on an error. Demarius Guions walked, and Jackson Phillips laced a single to left-center. An error on the play stretched the lead to 5-0. Powell, Dixon, Edwards and Guions all scored in the inning.
Malkia McCoy walked to start the Tar Heel 3rd inning. Fox Sutton drove in McCoy with a single to center field, and Jaxon Hair swatted a single to right-center field. McCracken and Powell drew walks, and scored when Jayden Byrd smashed a double to right-center field. McCoy, Sutton, Hair, McCracken and Powell all scored.
Byrd delivered the 2-run double, and Adams doubled and scored to lead the Tar Heel hitters. Sutton, Hair, Powell, Dixon and Phillips added 1 hit each. Powell scored twice, and Sutton, Hair, McCracken, Dixon, Edwards, Guions and McCoy also scored. Sutton and Phillips had RBIs.
Joey Dowless, Maverick Merritt, Ritchie Gonzalez and Stryker Pait all drew walks for the Yard Goats.
Jayden Bethea started and pitched 1.2 innings for the Yard Goats allowing 5 runs – 2 earned – on 3 hits and a walk. Ryker Strickland worked 0.1 innings of relief and gave up a run on a hit and walk. JaDarius McArthur worked 0.1 innings of relief and allowed 4 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. Hunter Wood gave up a hit but no runs in his 0.2 innings of relief.
