ELIZABETHTOWN – Eli Woodell smacked a 2-run double to right field that snapped a 1-1 tie and sparked Emereau Bladen to a 5-1 non-conference middle school baseball victory over Tar Heel.

Braiden Dixon dumped a single into center field to ignite the Aviators’ 4-run 6th inning rally. Stryker Pait and Gunner Lewis drew walks to load the bases. Jayden Bethea then replaced Panther starter Dylan McLaurin on the mound.

Woodell greeted Bethea with his 2-run double that scored Dixon and Pait. Lewis scored on Greylon Robinson’s fielder’s choice, and Woodell raced home on a wild pitch to push the lead to 5-1.

Pait beat out an infield hit in the Emereau 4th inning, stole a base and eventually dashed home on a wild pitch with the 1st run of the game.

Tar Heel tied the game in the 5th, Jordan King beat out an infield hit, stole 2nd base and scooted home when Levi Velasco Garcia belted a single to left field.

Pait started on the mound for Emereau and pitched 4.1 innings allowing a run on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 7. Noah Ray worked 2.2 innings of no-hit scoreless relief striking out 4 and allowing only a hit batter to pick up the win.

McLaurin pitched 5-plus innings for the Panthers allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 11. Bethea worked 1 inning of relief allowing a run on 1 hit and striking out 2.

Dixon batted 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead the Aviator hitters. Woodell delivered the 2-run double and scored a run. Pait singled, walked and scored 2 runs. Lewis walked and scored a run, and Robinson drove in a run.

King singled and scored a run for Tar Heel. Velasco Garcia singled and drove in a run.
