ELIZABETHTOWN – The Comets scored 3 runs in each of the 1st 3 innings enroute to a 9-3 victory over the Force in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action Thursday at Bladen County Park.

Racquel Whittington and Tinsley Allen smacked singles, and Avianna Whittington and India Storms drew walks in the Comet 1st inning. Keri Faye Burgess was hit by a pitch. Racquel Whittington, Avianna Whittington and Allen all scored for a 3-0 Comet lead.

Kaylee Fisher walked in the Force half of the inning, and Makynzee Thompson knocked her in with a triple. Thompson scored on Savannah Ownbey’s single to keep the Force within 3-2.

In the Comet 2nd inning, Kylie Murphy walked, and Angelina Jones slammed a double. Racquel Whittington belted a single, Avianna Whittington reached base, Allen walked, and Storms was hit by a pitch. Murphy, Jones and Racquel Whittington all scored as the lead grew to 6-2.

Jones hammered a double after walks to Murphy, Alina Cathleen Vazquez and Isabel Gardner in the Comet 3rd inning. Murphy, Vazquez and Gardner all scored to push the lead to 9-2.

Fisher and Anna White drew walks in the Force 4th inning, and Fisher scored to whittle the margin to 9-3.

Jones batted 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored to lead the Comet hitters. Racquel Whittington also finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Allen singled and scored a run. Murphy scored 2 runs, and Avianna Whittington, Vazquez and Gardner scored 1 run each.

Avianna Whittington pitched all 4 innings for the Comets and allowed 3 runs on 6 walks and 2 hits while striking out 7.

Thompson tripled, scored a run and drove in a run for the Force. Savannah Ownbey added a single and drove in a run. Fisher walked twice and scored twice.

Laikyn Rogerson pitched 3.1 innings for the Force and allowed 9 runs on 5 hits and 9 walks. Fisher worked 0.2 scoreless innngs of relief, walked 1 and struck out 1.
