CLARKTON – Elizabethtown defeated Bladen County 22-3 Saturday in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Supplemental Tournament.

Claxton Tatum, Braylon Cromartie and Jackson Smith belted first inning singles that produced the first Elizabethtown run. Tatum scored on Smith’s single.

Caiden McNeil walloped a home run in the Bladen County half of the first to tie game 1-1.

Wilson Clifton and Niyah Wooten slammed doubles to start the Elizabethtown second with Clifton scoring. Inman Carson hammered a triple that scored Wooten, and Collin Cole drove in Carson with a single.

Tatum cracked a single, before Cromartie blasted a triple that plated Cole and Tatum. Jackson Smith and Brady Marlowe smashed back-to-back doubles that drove in Cromartie and Smith and padded the Elizabethtown lead to 8-1.

Elizabethtown opened the third inning with seven consecutive hits by Gavin Elks, Conner Hill, Clifton, Wooten, Carson, Tyler Eason and Omar Powell. After an infield out, Tatum and Cromartie added singles that drove in the sixth and seventh runs of the inning and stretched the lead to 15-1.

Marlowe, Elks and Hill cracked singles to start the fourth inning with Marlowe scoring and Hill driving in the run. Clifton and Wooten followed with consecutive singles that scored Elks and Hill.

Carson ripped a double that scored Clifton, and Eason delivered a 2-run single that brought home Wooten and Carson. Powell and Cole smacked singles with Cole’s hit scoring Eason and upping the count to 22-1.

Seyquin Leach and McNeil laced singles in the Bladen County fourth, and Shanidra Richardson slugged a 2-run triple that scored Leach and McNeil.

Carson batted 3-3 with a triple, a double, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Cromartie finished 3-3 at the plate with 3 rbi’s, and Wooten was 3-3 with a double, 3 rbi’s, and 3 runs scored. Clifton batted 3-3 with a double, 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored.

Tatum finished 3-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Eason was 2-3 with 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Jackson Smith batted 2-3 with a double and an rbi. Hill finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and 2 runs scored.

Marlowe was 2-3 with an rbi and a run scored. Elks batted 2-3 and scored twice. Powell finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. Cole batted 2-3 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored.

McNeil clobbered the home run and finished 2-2 at the plate for Bladen County with 2 runs scored and one rbi. Richardson clubbed the 2-run triple, and Leach and Janiya Smith added one hit each. Leach also scored a run.
