WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Elizabethtown natives Farrell and Larrell Murchison led Louisburg to a 52-38 victory over Palmetto Prep Sunday.

Farrell Murchison scored two touchdowns and was the workhorse of the Hurricane offense with 27 carries for 117 yards. Farrell’s 2-yard touchdown run 5 seconds into the second quarter capped an 83-yard drive and gave Louisburg a 14-0 lead.

Palmetto pulled to within 45-38 with 9:46 remaining, before Farrell Murchison broke loose for runs of 10 and 8 yards to set up his own one-yard touchdown run that sealed the victory with 1:18 left to play.

Twin brother Larrell Murchison, a defensive lineman, made 5 solo tackles and assisted on 3 more tackles. Larrell was credited with 1.5 sacks for a total of 8 yards in losses and had 3.5 tackles-for-loss for a total of -11 yards.

Larrell Murchison’s 5-yard sack of the Palmetto quarterback helped stop the first Minuteman possession. Larrell had a 4-yard tackle-for-loss in the second period and a 6-yard sack in the third quarter.

The unbeaten Hurricanes improved to 5-0 and will travel to Rocky Mount Sunday at 2 p.m. to play the North Carolina Wesleyan junior varsity.
