DUBLIN – Midway clinched the Four County Conference jayvee girls basketball championship Tuesday with a 41-28 victory over West Bladen.
It was the second loss of the season for Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights who will take a 6-2 league mark and 12-2 overall record into Thursday’s season finale against East Bladen.
Chasity Lacy drained a pair of 3-point shots, and Kasee Singletary popped in a basket and 2 free throws as West Bladen took a 10-9 lead at first quarter break.
Lexie Corrothers threw in a pair of second quarter baskets and hit a free throw, and Lacy added a basket, but Midway took a 21-17 halftime lead.
The Lady Raider lead stretched to 31-23 in the third quarter as foul trouble plagued the Lady Knights who eventually lost five players to fouls. Corrothers pumped in 2 baskets in the third period, and teammate Anna Moser added a basket.
Corrothers and Kwashera Chapman scored fourth quarter baskets for West Bladen, and Singletary hit a free throw.
Corrothers topped the West Bladen scoring with 11 points, and Lacy followed with 8 points. Singletary finished with 5 points.
The difference was at the foul line as Midway connected on 17 of 44 free throws, while West Bladen made only 4 of 17 attempts.
