BLADENBORO – Rylee Chadwick tossed in 9 points Thursday to lead Bladenboro to a 23-17 Bladen Five Middle School Conference Girls Basketball victory over Tar Heel.

Chadwick, Hannah Hester and Hannah Pait threw in baskets in the opening quarter as the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Chadwick delivered a 3-point play in the second period, and Hannah Pait sank a free throw for a 10-4 Bladenboro halftime lead.

Shaunessy McMillian and Le’nya Harrell tossed in baskets for Tar Heel in the second quarter.

Chadwick and Lainey Autry fired in 2 baskets each to spark an 11-2 Lady Bulldog spurt in the third quarter that stretched their lead to 21-6. Hannah Pait pumped in another basket, and Hester made a free throw for Bladenboro, while Anasia Baxley scored the only Lady Panther basket in the third period.

Tar Heel rallied back with an 11-2 run in the fourth period. Harrell led the charge with 2 baskets, and McMillian sank a basket and 2 free throws. Shelby Pharr worked the paint for a basket and a free throw. Hester scored the only Bladenboro basket in the final quarter.

Hester and Hannah Pait finished with 5 points each for the Lady Bulldogs who improved to 2-3 on the season. Autry totaled 4 points.

McMillian and Harrell shared scoring honors for Tar Heel with 6 points each. Pharr followed with 3 points.
