West Bladen High School LogoDUBLIN – Junior Madison Collins pitched a one-hit shutout as West Bladen blanked West Columbus 10-0 Thursday night in non-conference softball action.

Collins allowed only a lead-off single by Lindsey Strickland in the fifth inning, struck out one and walked none as she raised her record to 2-0.

The game was scoreless until Lady Knight senior Laikyn Pait belted a one-out single in the fourth, and sophomore Carley Dawson was hit by a pitch. Sophomore Conner Brisson followed with a single that scored Pait.

The Lady Knights ended the game on the mercy rule with 9 runs in the fifth inning. Senior Kassidy Anderson led off with a single, and senior Logan Autry cracked a single that sent Anderson to third base.

Senior Alanna Ludlum hammered a double that scored Anderson and Autry. Pait swatted a single, and Carley Dawson delivered a single that scored Ludlum. Collins smacked a single that loaded the bases.

Brisson reached base on an error that scored Pait and Carley Dawson. Senior Jenna Dove smashed a single that scored Abby Dawson, the courtesy runner for Collins, and Brisson.

Anderson connected for her second hit of the inning, and Autry’s sacrifice scored Dove. An error on Ludlum’s grounder brought home Anderson with the game-ending run.

Pait batted 3-3 with 2 runs scored, and Carley Dawson was 2-2 at the plate with a run scored. Anderson finished 2-4 at the plate and scored 2 runs. Ludlum delivered the 2-run double and scored a run.

Dove knocked in 2 runs with a single and scored a run. Brisson, Collins and Autry added one hit each. Autry, Abby Dawson and Brisson scored runs.

Leah Floyd pitched the complete game for West Columbus.

Coach Joey Autry’s Lady Knights improved to 10-1 overall and will host Wallace-Rose Hill Monday night in a showdown for first place in the Four County.
