TOWN CREEK – The Etown Express 13U travel team won the Beast of the East Tournament Sunday and qualified for the USSSA 13U World Baseball Tournament in Florida in July.
It was the second tournament that Etown Express has won this season. The Express advanced out of pool play Saturday and swept through Sunday’s bracket round with 3 straight wins. K. J. Brown pitched the semi-final win, and Raymond Autry was the winning pitcher in the championship game.
The nucleus of the Express team has been together since they were playing in 9U tournaments four years ago. Last year the Express won 5 of the ten tournaments they entered and finished second in 3 other tournaments. They finished 11th in the State in Class AA play.
Members of the Express team are: Raymond Autry, K. J. Brown, Aleck Creech, Mahki Cromartie, Tyler Hill, Garrett Melvin, Chase Starkloff, Ayden Piland, Malcolm Bolden and Ethan Hilbourn. Coaches are Kendal Kelly and Les Hill, Jr.
