Sandhills Adult & Teen Challenge (ATC) is proud to announce the launch of its Military Specialization Program in honor of Nathan Horvatich, a veteran who served in the United States Army, where he dedicated 20 years of his life to his country. The program is designed to provide veterans with the opportunity to receive the highest quality of care and support in a safe and secure environment.

The Military Specialization Program includes a 30-day short-term residential recovery program for active service members and a 16-week residential recovery program for veterans. Both are designed to provide active military members and veterans with a stigma-free, faith-based recovery option. While enrolled, the program will allow service members to receive licensed clinical counseling services, group therapy, and continued fitness training for active-duty service members to meet the armed forces standards.

SAMHSA (2023) states binge drinking rates in the military are higher than in the civilian population, and “We are honored to be able to provide this program in honor of Nathan Horvatich,” said Sandhills ATC CEO Russ Cambria. “We understand the unique needs of veterans and are
committed to providing them with the highest quality of care and support.”

The program is located 30 minutes from Ft. Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg), making it easily accessible for veterans and active service members in the area. Sandhills ATC provides veterans the resources and support they need to successfully transition into civilian life.

*A ribbon cutting ceremony will occur at 10 am on November 29th, 2023, at 1456 Lula Long Rd, Elizabethtown, NC 28337, with the multipurpose building in Nathan’s name. His sister, Ellie Horvatich, donated $20,000 to finish this building.

Sandhills ATC is grateful for the support of the local churches in the area, including Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Epicenter Church, Covenant Love Church, First Assembly of God in Asheboro and Revelation Church. These churches have played a role in supporting our efforts to open the Veteran’s Center.

The Military Specialization Program is a testament to Nathan’s legacy and a reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans. Sandhills ATC is proud to provide veterans with the necessary resources and support to transition back into civilian life. To learn more about the Military
