A Staff Report

The Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina (BGHNC) presents a festive event that brings the spirit of Christmas to life. This event, known as “The Christmas Nativity Journey”. This year, the Christmas Nativity Journey is set to be bigger and more spectacular than ever before, with three unique locations and an array of Nativity scenes that will captivate your heart and soul.

The Christmas Nativity Journey, which first debuted in 2022, has a special origin. It all began with a generous gift from Rodney Gore, a Tabor City native, who donated hundreds of Nativity scenes to BGHNC. His thoughtful contribution laid the foundation for an annual event that has since grown in size and popularity.

For the 2023 edition of The Christmas Nativity Journey, attendees will have the opportunity to explore not one but three incredible locations. This year’s event will take place from December 1st to 3rd, offering an extended opportunity for everyone to partake in the holiday festivities. The locations include BGHNC’s own campus, specifically in the Chapel, Fellowship Hall, and Flemington Hall. Additionally, visitors can make their way to the Lake Waccamaw Depot Museum, located just down the street. The charm of Lake Waccamaw during the holiday season adds an extra layer of enchantment to the event.

As part of the experience, guests can also visit the newly renovated Carriage House for an open house. This addition provides a chance to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the festive decorations that fill the space. The Nativity scenes on display are a testament to the cultural and artistic diversity of this cherished tradition.

The event will run from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on December 1st and from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd and 3rd. Donations are gratefully accepted for admission. The funds raised during the event will directly benefit BGHNC’s programs of care for youth, ensuring that their needs are met during this festive time of the year. Your donations will have a meaningful impact on the lives of the children and young people under the care of BGHNC.
