In October of 2020, an Elizabethtown resident reported the theft of a vehicle. Although the vehicle was recovered, the suspect had not been located. Lieutenant Dwayne Cheshire with the Elizabethtown Police Department confirmed this afternoon the suspect allegedly involved in the theft of the motor vehicle has been arrested.

Corey Matthew Murchison of Twisted Hickory Road

According to Lt. Cheshire, the Elizabethtown Police Department apprehended 38-year-old, Corey Matthew Murchison of Twisted Hickory Road in Elizabethtown on Tuesday evening.

Bladen County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Murchison was charged last night with Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting a Public Officer,  Civil Contempt for Child Support, Interfering with an Electronic Monitor, Probation Violation, Larceny of Motor Vehicles, Injury of a Stolen Vehicle, and Injury to Personal Property.

Murchison has a $115,000 Bond and a balance due for child support. At the time of publication Murchison is in custody at the Bladen County Law Enforcement Center.
