
TABOR CITY – Lee Barnes and Jacob Nixon combined for 18 points Tuesday to lead East Bladen to a 28-24 Three Rivers Conference jayvee basketball victory over South Columbus.
Nixon popped in a basket and 2 free throws, and Cam White tossed in a basket as the Eagles grabbed a 6-4 first quarter lead. Barnes drained a 3-point shot to keep East Bladen tied 9-9 at halftime.
Barnes nailed another 3-point shot and sank 2 free throws in the 3rd quarter, and teammate Malaki Monroe dropped in a pair of baskets. White and Corey Robbins threw in a basket each as the Eagle lead grew to 22-18 at the quarter break.
Nixon cashed in 2 free throws and tossed in a basket in the final period to finish with 8 points for the winners. Barnes connected on a pair of free throws and led the East Bladen scoring with 10 points. White and Monroe totaled 4 points each.
It was the conference opener for Coach Aking Elting’s Eagle jayvees who improved to 3-1 overall. East Bladen will host Red Springs Friday.
