Beginning next week (May 16), a project will begin in the Bladen County Hospital Emergency Department to replace the air handler unit. The Emergency Department will need to relocate on Tuesday, May 17, for approximately 4 to 6 hours. The Bladen leadership team has been working diligently over the last several weeks to identify any issues related to this project and resolve them to ensure the least amount of disruption to patients, family and staff occurs.
On Tuesday, May 17, while physically replacing the unit, the Emergency Department will move to a temporary location in the hospital. The Emergency Department Entrance and all interior access to the Emergency Department will be blocked. For patient and staff safety no one will be able to enter the Emergency Department area while the crane is in operation. Patients and visitors are asked to use the main entrance (the entrance facing Giorgio’s) on May 17.
The Emergency Department will be relocated to Surgical Services department, where arrangements have been made for them to operate at regular capacity.
