Spread the love

It started with the National Talent Tour, Road to the Apollo in New York, a fundraiser for military veterans, that was held at Bladen Community College. One of the organizers and senior producers of the event, Captain Newborn, explained they were looking for North Carolina’s best talent by hosting a talent show. But to keep the fundraising going, there is a Bike Ride and a Sneaker Ball on Saturday, February 4th. Both will be at the Touch of Country Venue.

Ilka McElveen is the host of both events; she stated that she is hoping for a significant outcome of the bike ride to help raise money for the veterans.

“I hope we have about 30 or 40 bike riders for the event,” McElveen stated.

Registration for the bike ride is at 9 a.m. on February 4th; for a single rider, it’s $20, and for a double rider, it’s a $25 donation.

Also, vendors can pay $25 to be a vendor for food and craft sales. The ride starts at 11 a.m., and Ilka said they hope to ride for an hour or two.

The Sneaker Ball is also on February 4th, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Ilka stated “It’s just like a prom, with formal wear, but you wear your best-dressed sneakers.”

Dinner will be served during the dance, and The Sneaker Ball will feature the Sand Band. For a single ticket, it’s $25; for a couple, tickets are $40. All of the proceeds go to Next-Level Veterans.

A Touch of Country Venue is located at 9700 NC-41, Harrells, North Carolina.
