DUBLIN – Bladen Community College has broken ground on the construction of a new 19,967 square feet building to house continuing education programs.

The structure will feature a 125-seat teaching auditorium, a conference room, 2 EMS labs, 2 science labs, and 5 classrooms, as well as faculty and staff offices for the continuing education department.

“We are excited to begin construction on a $6.5 million, 20,000 square feet Continuing Education and Workforce Development Building,” stated BCC president, William Findt. “This will enable the college to continue to serve students in the allied health, emergency medical, and general education fields for years to come.  We are pleased for the support by the citizens of Bladen County who voted overwhelmingly in favor of the 2016 Connect NC Education bond that has made this building a reality. We thank the Bladen County commissioners for their approval and support for this building.”

Approximately 250 guests watched as college and community leaders symbolically scooped the first shovel of ground.

Sondra Guyton, vice president for Workforce and Continuing Education, remarked, “The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of construction for the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Building, a building that even by name, conveys the heart of what we do every day in helping students continue their education at Bladen Community College.”
