Bladen Online previously shared information regarding Naloxone (Narcan) administrations in Bladen County for June 2021 from David Howell, EMS Director. We have now received information for July 2021.

In July of this year, 15 Naloxone doses were administered, which is a 50% increase compared to July 2020. In fact, every month of 2021 so far shows an increase.

Drug use and overdose is a worldwide issue. Many lives have been lost at the hands of overdose, but Narcan has saved many of them.

More information on Naloxone (Narcan) is available at: https://www.fda.gov/drugs/postmarket-drug-safety-information-patients-and-providers/information-about-naloxone.

Resources are available to those who are struggling with addiction. According to Resources, “The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), a part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), is responsible for supporting treatment services through a block grant program, as well as disseminating findings to the field and promoting their adoption. CSAT also operates the 24-hour National Treatment Referral Hotline (1-800-662-HELP), which offers information and referral services to people seeking treatment programs and other assistance.”
