The Bladen County Board of Elections staff met on Tuesday afternoon and discussed the scheduling of a training session for poll workers and reviewed absentee ballots that have been returned to the Board of Elections office in Elizabethtown.

Bladen County Board of Elections Director Cynthia Shaw told the board that On Wednesday, November 1, she will conduct a training session for poll workers who will work the polls on Election Day. She said this will include the Chief Judges and Judges.

Board of Elections member Al Daniels asked if there is a training session conducted for Chief Judges and Judges.

“The Chief Judges and Judges training and the workers training are all inclusive,” said Board of Elections Chairman Bobby Ludlum.

Daniels then said the roster of Judges and Chief Judges appears unbalanced based on Political Party, ethnicities, etc. He questioned who picked the list of poll workers and how are they picked.

“I’m thinking about a program that not only board members and staff but potential people coming in would understand what they are getting into,” said Daniels.

He stressed there should be a method in place where poll workers can move into roles as judges and chief judges, etc.

The board then received the update on the One Stop voting and absentee ballots.
