The Bladen County Board of Commissioners will hold their first regular scheduled meeting since the passing of Commissioner Russell Priest. The local Democratic Party has nominated Russell’s son, Robbie Priest, to the District 3 Commissioner’s seat until the election in November.

During the last commissioners’ meeting Minnie Price addressed the board of commissioners with a complaint. Price explained that County-wide Commissioner, Michael G. Cogdell abused his power by
using county letterhead for personal gain. Letters were given to the County Manager, Greg Martin, to
distribute to the board for evidence of Price’s concerns.

She told the commissioners, “The Business has nothing to do with County business.” She added,
“according to the council of government it is unethical to use the county letterhead for personal use.”
The commissioners also heard updates and recommendations from County Health and Emergency
officials, the Bladen County Soil and Water District and made appointments to local advisory boards.
