Lillian Blackburn began her employment with Bob Hester’s Law Firm in 1945 and retired after 40 years of service in 1985.
Irene Brisson was sworn in as the Mayor of Dublin. Also sworn in were town commissioners Horace Wyatt, David Hursey and Sue Elkins. Clerk of Court Hilda Coleman administered the oaths of office.
The East Bladen High School girl’s and boy’s basketball teams notched their sixth straight wins by defeating Clinton High. The boys team was led by Kenneth Long who scored 22 points in their 71-51 victory. The girls team, who defeated Clinton 58-57, were led by Ann Hancock who had 23 points and 6 rebounds.
