• The Elizabethtown Garden Club was host to the annual meeting of District X1, Garden Clubs of North Carolina. 150 ladies met at White Lake for the event.
• Two young men were arrested on charges of possessing a controlled substance … marijuana.
• Dr. Odell Hobbs, son of Mrs. Molly Hobbs of Clarkton, received the Doctor of Arts degree from Western Colorado University. Dr. Hobbs was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
