The Bladen County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association delivered presents throughout the county to 18 (and one on the way) children on Monday.  The Association is represented by all the state and local law enforcement agencies in our county, said North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper K. McVicker.

“We as a group go shop and purchase the presents for the children as a group.  We wrap the presents as a group and then we deliver the presents together as a group,” said McVicker.

As the officers travel throughout the county, Santa is riding in one of the patrol cars as they travel from home to home to deliver presents.

This event is not for glory, it’s not for praise, but rather for the betterment of our community.  We want smiles on children’s faces and for them to see that law enforcement officers are there to help them.  This event is an opportunity for our Association members to give back to the community in which we all live and work,” said Trooper McVicker.

Operation Christmas is made possible by the Association’s major fundraiser which is an Annual Golf Tournament at Vineyard Golf Course in White Lake.  The Association has also held Concealed Carry Classes and raffled off a Delton Rifle.  “We also cannot go without mentioning our donations from various businesses and individuals throughout our county.  When we all work together as a community amazing things happen and yesterday is a fine example of paying things forward.  We cannot mention all by name who support our Association each and every year, but we want them to know they are very much appreciated and truly without them this event would not be possible,” reads a thank you letter form the members of the Association.

The Association is not finished yet with their gift giving.  The officers will be dropping off gift cards to flood-impacted elderly in Kelly this week as well.
