Bladen County Schools Parent Advisory Council serves to help BCS improve quality of education and communication by giving feedback and ideas to administration. The advisory council had a Welcome and Introductions dinner on November 1st.

At the meeting, they discussed strategic planning, practices of effective school districts, and more relevant topics. Parents on the advisory council had the opportunity to share things they believe are working well with Bladen County Schools, as well as things that could be improved.

The advisory council is essentially a voice for the parents, which is something many people have desired and hoped Bladen County Schools would implement. Dr. Jason Atkinson, Superintendent of Bladen County Schools, is connected to parents and their comments and concerns directly through the advisory council.

Those in attendance reported to have found the meeting very informative. Terry Nance, a member of the advisory council, stated “From a parent’s perspective, the advisory council is a great opportunity for parents of BCS students to voice our concerns.”

The advisory council will hold their next meeting in January.
