ELIZABETHTOWN – Brady Marlowe hammered a 2-run triple to highlight a 6-run 3rd inning that opened up a 9-2 Yard Goat lead and propelled them to a 15-5 victory over the Rock Hounds in Dixie Boys Baseball action Monday night at County Park.
Drake Gause and Gaston Russ drew walks to start the game. Stryker Pait lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Gause. Aidan Thompson smoked a single to right-center field, and Marlowe ripped a double to left that scored Russ and staked the Yard Goats to an early 2-0 lead.
Chandler Wall sliced a double to left field in the Rock Hound half of the 1st, and Delton Murdock spanked a single to right that plated Wall and trimmed the margin to 2-1.
Jayden Bethea walked to begin the Yard Goat 2nd inning and scored when Ritchie Gonzalez-Velazquez yanked a double to left. Trey Wilson led off the Rock Hound 2nd with a single to left and scored when Braiden Dixon lined a single to left-center to close the gap to 3-2.
Drake Gause walked to start the pivotal 3rd inning and scored when Russ launched a sacrifice fly. Corben Chadwick walked, and Pait raked a single to left. Marlowe delivered the 2-run triple that plated Chadwick and Pait. Woodell rapped a single to center that scored Marlowe. Gunner Lewis and Bethea drew walks, and Landon Gause smacked a single to center and Woodell and Lewis scored to push the lead to 9-2.
Cayden Morton swatted a single to center field in the Rock Hound 3rd inning, and Khalil Moore knocked him in with a 2-out single to whittle the margin to 9-3.
Drake Gause pulled a single to left to start the Yard Goat 4th inning, and scored when Russ pounded a double to right. Chadwick smashed a double to right-center field that plated Russ then scored on Thompson’s single to stretch the lead to 12-3. Jayden Byrd walked and scored a Rock Hound run in the bottom of the inning.
Gunner Lewis lashed a single to left to begin the Yard Goat 5th, and scored when Landon Gause poked a single to left. Colt Lewis walked, and Gonzalez-Velazquez and Drake Gause followed with singles that scored Landon Gause and Colt Lewis and grew the lead to 15-4.
Dixon walloped a double to left in the Rock Hound 5th inning and scored on Morton’s grounder.
Aidan Thompson pitched all 5 innings for the Yard Goats and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Moore started and pitched 2.1 innings for the Rock Hounds and struck out 1 batter. Fox Sutton worked 2.1 innings of relief and struck out 3 batters. Wall pitched 0.1 innings of relief and struck out 1.
Marlowe batted 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run scored and 3 RBIs. Drake Gause batted 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Thompson batted 2-for-3 with an RBI. Landon Gause finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and 2 RBIs. Gonzalez-Velazquez was also 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Russ doubled, scored twice and had an RBI. Chadwick doubled, scored a run and had an RBI. Pait singled, scored a run and had an RBI. Woodell and Gunner Lewis added a single each and scored a run each. Colt Lewis and Bethea also scored runs.
Dixon batted 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI to lead the Rock Hounds. Morton also batted 2-for-2 with a run scored. Wall doubled and scored a run. Moore, Murdock and Wilson added 1 hit and 1 RBI each. Byrd and Wilson also scored 1 run each.
