An Elizabethtown man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received on Monday and another man is being held on attempted murder charges, according to the Elizabethtown Police Department.

The Elizabethtown Police Department received a 911 call of a subject shot in the area of James Street near Della Street in Elizabethtown around 11 am on Monday, March, 2019.

The gunshot victim, David Wilson Gilchrist, was located at the scene and was transported to Bladen County Hospital and is in stable condition at this time, according to Lt. D. Cheshire with the Elizabethtown Police Department.

The shooter in the incident was identified as Elijah David Coston and he has been charged with attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Coston is also currently on parole for previous felony weapons charges, according to Lt. Cheshire.

After a brief manhunt and with the assistance of Probations and Parole and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Department Coston was located and arrested by the Elizabethtown Police Department for the aforementioned charges. He is currently being held in Bladen County Detention Center under a $1 million dollar bond.
