ELIZABETHTOWN – The Comets scored 6 runs in each of the 1st 2 innings enroute to a 15-6 victory over the Thunder in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Softball action Tuesday at Bladen County Park.

Angelina Jones, Racquel Whittington, Avianna Whittington, Rylee White, Tinsley Allen, and Keri Faye Burgess all drew walks and scored runs in the Comets 1st inning.

Chyna Smith led off the Thunder 2nd inning with a double, and Keira Dowless singled. Delana Phillips, Kylie Murphy, Tiyana Singletary and Kayden Jackson all drew walks, and all 6 of them scored to tie the game 6-6.

In the Comet 2nd inning, Aubree Smith, Alina Cathleen Vazquez, Jones and Avianna Whittington all drew walks. Racquel Whittington and White cracked singles, and all 6 of them scored to push the Comets in front 12-6.

India Storms tripled to start the Comet 3rd inning but was retired on a double play when left fielder Chyna Smith snagged Burgess’ fly ball to left. Isabel Gardner and Ny’ashia Lyles drew walks, and Kylee Spaulding hammered a double to left field. Gardner, Spaulding and Lyles scored to pad the lead to 15-6.

Storms tripled, Spaulding doubled, and Racquel Whittington and White belted singles to lead the Comet hitters. Chyna Smith doubled, and Keira Dowless singled to lead the Thunder hitters. Jackson started in the pitching circle for the Thunder.

Racquel Whittington pitched the 1st 2 innings for the Comets striking out 3 batters while allowing 6 runs. Avianna Whittington pitched the final 2 scoreless innings and struck out 2 batters.
