The Bladenboro and Elizabethtown Police Department Investigators worked together to target street level narcotic dealers in their jurisdictions. According to the officials, both agencies focused on areas of concern, dealing with known narcotic activity, citizen complaints, and an effective community watch program.
Bladenboro investigators focused much of their efforts in the housing authority apartment complexes, while Elizabethtown Investigators focused on a car wash located on Martin Luther King Drive along with multiple areas in the community according to the official press release. During the investigation ten suspects were identified and charged with numerous felony narcotic violations.
Nathan K. Hester, Interim Police Chief with Elizabethtown Police Department explained the law enforcements’ course of action when they receive a narcotics complaint in his press release.
He said, “When a narcotics complaint is received the citizen may not see an immediate response from law enforcement. It is our general practice to investigate the complaint and gain as much information as we can so the case can be properly prosecuted by the district attorney’s office. In other words, some drug dealers have already been caught, they just don’t know it yet.”
Hester continued, “Elizabethtown and Bladenboro Police departments receive narcotics complaints on a daily basis, and we hope to continue to work with the communities we serve to ensure our neighborhoods are safe and free from the violence associated with narcotic sales. If you have any information with regards to illegal narcotics or any other crime, we urge you to contact your local police department so that we can assist.”
