Belated congratulations to Rodney Lacewell, East Bladen high school senior, who recently signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at NC State … 6 feet, 7 inches, weighing in at 300 pounds … Wish him the best … Another former Eagle, Larrel Murchison, has signed another contract with the LA Rams … He was also a former East Bladen & NC State lineman…

Sticking with the topic of sports … A huge honor for the newest members of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame … A luncheon and reception was held earlier this week … Included was Robert “Linwood” Hedgepeth, retired, very successful baseball coach from Columbus County … Great career as high school and Legion coach … Actually, made several stops over the years, sharing his talents with many, including youngsters who played legion ball, several who played at much higher level, including major leagues … Linwood deserves much credit for the success of many … including many from our area. The formal Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held August 17 at the Embassy Suites in Cary. Tickets will go on sale later this week…

You have a special invitation to the Annual May Day Jamboree, Saturday, May 4th from 2-8 p.m at Lu Mil Vineyard near Dublin … Will be a fun event in their designated fishing area … Free This Day Only … Much to do … and not all free, but something for all ages. Many activities are planned … A day of fun for all the family.
