John Randleman Bladenboro Parade MarshallBy: Joy Warren

What started out as a parade for a troupe of Brownie Scouts 42 years ago, has now evolved into a much anticipated event of the Christmas season.   Amanda Sykes, Chair of the Bladenboro Christmas Parade was one of those excited Brownie Scouts at the first parade.

She stated her mother, Sue Thompson Galloway and Jane Walters started the parade for the girls and continue to serve a vital role on the parade committee.  Mrs. Sykes stated that she would love for others to be a part of the traditional Christmas event by participating in the parade.

The parade will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., starting at Bo’s Grocery Store and ending at Bladenboro Middle School.  The Grand Marshal for the Parade is WWAY-TV3 Sports Anchor, John Rendleman.

The parade will include plenty of Scholarship pageant queens, Shriners, school groups, bands and of course, the crowd favorite, Old St. Nick.  For more information about the parade, contact Amanda Sykes at 874-2627.
