The Bladen County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on May 17, 2021, remotely. The Bladen County Educational Foundation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., in the public meeting room of the Bladen County Board of Education on US Highway #701, South, in Elizabethtown.

The Bladen County Schools District’s website released the following statement in regards to the Monday, May 17, 2021 meeting, “Due to the ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic and to encourage social distancing the meeting will be a remote meeting and only the members of the Board of Education and staff will be allowed to be physically present at the meeting room of the Bladen County Board of Education Building.”

The Monday evening meeting is an official meeting, and action items and personnel matters will be on the agenda, as per NCGS 143.318.11 (a) (1) and to consult with an attorney, if needed, as per the NCGS 143.318.11 (a) (3).

According to the school district, a hyperlink will be activated prior to the meeting on Monday to allow the public to listen to the meeting virtually. The meeting link will be published and accessible on the Bladen County Schools’ website at www.bladen.k12.nc.us, and on the Bladen County Schools’ Facebook and Twitter social media pages at https://www.facebook.com/BladenCountySchools/ and https://twitter.com/BladenCountySch

The Bladen County Educational Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized to provide financial help for Bladen County public schools and educators. The Foundation holds regular meetings at the District office in Elizabethtown. 

In an announcement about the Tuesday meeting at the Bladen County Schools District office, the Bladen County Educational Foundation stated, “All members and other interested parties are asked to attend this meeting, and the same should not last more than approximately thirty (30) minutes. This is the first meeting that we have had in over a year due to the pandemic.”

The Foundation added to their announcement, “Please come out and help support us in our continued efforts to support Bladen County Public Schools.”

According to concerned parents and community members, there will be a protest at the Bladen County Schools District office on Monday, May 17, 2021, starting at 5:30 p.m. due to the lack of transparency by the Bladen County Board of Education and the Bladen County Schools District.
