East Bladen 68, Union 37

East Bladen’s Eagles rode a 36-15 second-half surge to a 68-37 Four County Conference boys basketball victory over visiting Union Friday night.

Sophmore Ethan Hines who topped the East Bladen scoring with 15 points fired in 7 points in the first quarter as the Eagles built a 15-7 lead.

Junior Jermaine Robinson bombed in a pair of 3-point shots in the second quarter and added another basket as the Eagles outscored the Spartans 17-15 to extend their lead to 32-22 at halftime. Eian Hines, Ethan’s brother, also drained a 3-point shot in the second period.

Eian-HinesJermaine-RobinsonEthan Hines tossed in 6 points in the third quarter to lead a 16-9 spurt that padded the Eagle lead to 48-31. A 20-6 East Bladen burst blew the game open in the final period. Senior Monterro Graham nailed a 3-point shot for the Eagles in the quarter.

Robinson finished with 11 points for East Bladen, and junior center Chris Cromartie and Graham followed with 9 points each. Dayvon Powell and Eian Hines added 5 points each.

Coach Ken Cross’ Eagles evened their league record at 3-3 and their overall mark at 7-7. East Bladen will play Monday at 10:30 a.m. against Topsail in the MLK Holiday Classic at Union High School.
